The team at Compass Seminars NZ would like to take a moment to thank you for your support of our professional development training programme during 2024 and we hope you had a restful break over the summer.This pānui is to let you know that our office has reopened, and we are ready to share with you a glimpse into this year's training offering.
We are currently in the midst of building our programme of seminars for 2025, however the calendar of confirmed seminars is now available to view online at www.compass.ac.nz.

Overcoming Anxiety with Australian psychologist Karen Young. One of our most popular all-time trainings, Karen brings a warm and passionate presentation style; drawing on neuroscience, evidence-based strategies, and highly respected therapeutic models to support practitioners in developing a fresh, impactful approach to working with anxiety in young people.
Karen will additionally be in Rotorua to present Working with Anxiety in Children and Teens - a two-day practical workshop taking a deep dive into the topic.

A Nature Fix- Utilising 'Nature Prescriptions' to Improve Wellbeing with Dr. Miles Holmes - This is a new training for 2025 which will introduce participants to the science, benefits, and practical implementation of 'nature prescriptions'. Attracting increased research attention in recent years, studies have shown that structured time in natural settings have shown impressive outcomes including decreasing rates of depression, anxiety and ADHD symptoms. The workshop will discuss the benefits for people of all ages from proactively and mindfully connecting with outdoor environments.
Working with ADHD and Managing Big Emotions & Optimising Self Regulation with dynamic Canadian psychologist Dr. Caroline Buzanko.
Back by popular demand, we will be touring these workshops as a live event following Caroline's sold-out webinar last year.
Kia Tupu Kia Puawai- Unleashing Māori Potential - We are pleased to tautoko Professor Meihana Durie again in 2025 with this one-day training. Please note that we will be adding two further dates and locations as Prof. Durie confirms his availability.
We will also continue providing a wealth of training in the attachment and childhood trauma field this year...
Compass is pleased to welcome back Ontario-based Dr. Hannah Sun-Reid, with Play Therapy Interventions for Attachment Difficulties. Hannah has worked alongside us for many years and returns to our shores to provide this engaging training around play-based interventions. Play is a powerful way to foster healthy attachment relationships and the techniques presented by Hannah are grounded in contemporary knowledge of attachment theory, developmental trauma, and neurobiology
Michael Durrant's popular Post Traumatic Success two-day intensive training will also be returning for 2025. This practical and experiential workshop focuses on working with adolescents and adults who have experienced traumatic events. It offers a practical framework for intervention derived from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, providing attendees with direction and skills for assisting people on their recovery journey.
We are also delighted to be in the process of finalising training dates with California-based psychologist Dr. Galia Schecter who will be presenting in-person on Mindfulness-based approaches in the treatment of trauma, as well as Experiential approaches to Trauma Processing an overview and practice workshop interweaving EMDR inspired, focusing, Hakomi and Gestalt practices into the treatment of trauma.
Following fantastic feedback on last year's Connections over Compliance live webinar with Assistant Professor Dr. Lori Desautels, we are pleased to share that she will be presenting again from the United States - keep an eye on our website as we finalise the topic.
We will also continue to offer training options in Dyadic Development Practice (DDP)including both Level 1 and Level 2 and certification packages.
In the second half of 2025, we continue with some newer topic areas such as working with LGBTQIA+ rangatahi,
As we move into our 27th year of operations, we are really excited about our calendar for 2025. This year we are partnering closely with our colleagues at Taranaki Sound Hire, who will support us with our audiovisual requirements, tour logistics, and seminar hosting. We are pleased to be in the midst of formalising this arrangement, and you can look forward to being greeted warmly at all of our events by our colleagues from TSH.
